We got our single pot and while I was scrubbing it clean I noticed two things that I'm not quite sure about.
1. The underside of the lid has three "hooks". well they are pieces of bent metal sort of in a triangle. I think they are designed to "hook in" a triple pot from the underside. Is that what they are for?
2. The stamp on the bottom of our single pot has the Chamber script type logo and does not say Shelbyville. like the one the header of this board. The stamp on the bottom of our triples (they came with the stove which is a 1946 model B)is just plain and says Shelbyville. Does anyone know the when or why there are different logo stamps. both pots are made in U.S.A and both by Wearever.

Hi,
I can't answer all the questions you have pertaining to the logos on your pots accurately...but I think it has to do with the year and the move of the manufacturing plants. However, on you single pot those 3 tabs are for the double boiler insert. It's a smaller pot that hooks into the tabs to make the single pot a double boiler. As far as I know these are hard to find....I've been hunting a long time for it.

The different stampings are just from different era's - the one with the CHAMBERS shield came with the "B" series units, the others came later.
Yes, the clips are for the double-boiler.
I got mine at an antique store - it was sitting on a top shelf with no lid (of course), looking lonely.
Cost me $4.00

Todd - you did WELL!! Why is it lonely, though??
I found my double boiler insert on eBay and payed through the nose for it ($43). Ouch, but it snaps right in to those three clips, and it's really pretty cool.
I wanted to be able to do the Idle Hour recipe for Boston baked beans and Brown bread!! I love slow-cooker baked beans, so I figure when I finally get my stove up and running, that will be one of my first thermowell recipes experiments!
I haven't been able to convince myself to pay eBay prices to buy a newer single pot that would hold the wide, shallow insert, though. My pot doesn't have the indentations on the sides, so I can't just look for the insert itself. My single must be older. Treatmaker's got her eyes out for one for me. (THANK YOU, VIRGINIA!!)
I really think it would be a great option to be able to cook a shallow desert, like a cobbler or moist cake, at the same time you're making a stew in the single pot. The Idle Hour has lots of references to this option, like the pineapple upside down cake recipe.
Oy. I'm obsessed with the recipes (I love to read cookbooks), but I'm still stuck on the safety thing. I hope Sam The Stoveman gets back to us about the safety directions. I'm ready to order parts, but I don't know which thermocouple and pilot to get yet.

Thanks for all the help. i have the double boiler that is wide and shallow but the lid still has the clips. i won't confess to how much i paid for this, but i figured i got both a single pot and the double boiler and i'm happy.

I like how the newer pots could hold either kind of insert. I'll switch my old single out someday for the newer version.
Once they're being used, it won't matter a bit what the pots cost. I just have to get my stove going, and then I'll develop happy amnesia.
Enjoy!

I did a little dance when my stuff arrived, too! Then I had to stand back and admire them for a while. Now they're stowed away inside my storage cabinet, lonely for some use. (My stove's "under construction.")
I just got my safety system parts by UPS as I was typing this. One day shipping via UPS ground. Not bad, and very exciting. Time for another dance.

I thought I had scored a great deal when I purchased this aluminum pot that I assumed fit my Model B Thermowell. It has the same handle & clips that my other triple & double pots have. The size appears right, but it does not fit. The differences I notice are: 1) there is no logo/text on the bottom; and 2) there are no recessed areas on the side.
Does anyone know if this pot is possibly for another model stove?
